Vfl Billerbeck chose the latest VarioSlide S PRO product. Vfl Billerbeck has been for many years now the permanent base of operations, together with the local sports’ hotel, for many German and foreign sports clubs such as FC Gelsenkirchen-Schalke 04, the DFB national team, the Hamburger SV, Slavia Prague, the AZ Alkmaar etc.
The club had already seen a number of pitches of the VarioSlide type, and was highly enthusiastic about this top technical playing product. Not only young teams but also the top eleven players will have the opportunity to try out this brand new development in artificial grass for football.
Dieter Tartemann DFB football coach and UEFA Pro-Coach, also provided positive advice on this type of grass mat, with which he has several years’ experience himself. The Billerbeck pitch was created to satisfy the strictest FIFA requirements, the FIFA 2STAR in particular, and could therefore also be used without any problem for international competitions. This was also confirmed by the attribution of a FIFA 2STAR certificate. “I have been working for years with artificial grass and this new Domo® VarioSlide S PRO product is definitely a valuable alternative to natural grass. I am really excited by this new development of a total system concept including a top technology underlayer that guarantees playing properties in pretty much any weather conditions. A TOP GRASS MAT WITH HELIFLEX TECHNOLOGY
VarioSlide is an excellent and natural looking grass mat made with combined yarns. The basis is an S PRO monofilament grass mat to which two types of yarn have been added, thereby adding extra added value. S PRO Heliflex provides outstanding elastic fibres resulting in the best properties for play. After many years of research, Domo® has succeeded to affix a controllable helix (or spiral form) to the monofilament. This Heliflex technology creates the ultimate grass mat with untried elasticity. This elasticity is due to an ingeniously integrated spiral effect. When vertical, the spiral yarn is at rest, but as soon as lateral or downward pressure is exerted, the yarn comes under tension, and will want to spring back upright into its natural resting position as quickly as possible. By applying this to the entire surface, a pitch is created in which the grass yarns always spring up nice and straight, thereby perfectly guaranteeing the playing properties of “ball roll” and “foot under the ball”.
Other advantages are due to the addition of a monofilm. This combination of a 100% monofilament and an extra profiled monofilm provides the pitch with several new properties that a classic monofilament grass mat does not have. Apart from its outstanding durability, this monofilm also offers the following advantages:
1) The monofilm holds the rubber infill in place, preventing it from being displaced during play and keeping the pitch nice and level.
2) Sunlight does not come into direct contact with the rubber, thus preventing long-term heating of the grass mat. The helix shape also ensures that less sunlight hits the filament, which means the grass mat heats up less. This helix shape also ensures that the water (after a shower) is retained for longer, allowing the pitch to cool down more. This helps prevent burns during intensive use.
3) Topping up with rubber and sweeping are limited by the profiled monofilm net that holds the rubber infill in place and keeps it level during brushing, or when clearing the snow from a pitch.
THE BASE WITH DOMOFLEX XC 10MM
Thanks to the particularly sophisticated system concept with the Domoflex XC shock-absorbing underlayer, playing properties can be guaranteed in almost all weathers. Domoflex XC is the newest product on the market in terms of shock-absorbing mats. Expansion and shrinkage due to temperature variations are dealt with by a groove structure laid in front of the grass yarns. Thanks to the closed cell structure, Domoflex XC does not absorb any water. The ingenious groove structure means water drains off perfectly,which means that this mat cannot freeze or harden and therefore offers optimal comfort in all weather conditions. Furthermore, installing this mat is easy and simple. The rolls, which are 2 metres wide, easily roll out.
